Belfast School has an exciting and vibrant curriculum that reflects the National Curriculum. There is an emphasis on the components of Literacy and Numeracy that ensures your child gets off to an excellent start in these important areas of learning. These areas are covered in the mornings as reflected in our school timetable.
The other areas of the Curriculum are taught through our Inquiry/Integrated Topic programme. Every year an over-arching theme is chosen through an identified need or interest, e.g. conservation issue or health need. This theme is then broken down into four units, one for each term. Each term’s topic unit will have an emphasis that covers an area of the Curriculum, e.g. Term 1 - Health/PE, Term 2 - Science and Technology etc.
This style of delivery places an emphasis on Numeracy and Literacy, and also allows children to explore other areas of learning in-depth through our Inquiry model.
